Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral policy has invested in building the capacities of its internal human resource as a spring boad to builidng the capacities of other Stakeholders in East Africa. Much of 2013, has been spent on building our own in-house skills and sharing the newly acquired skills with stakeholders at policy level, parliament, the media, the academia and most importantly host communities in resource rich regions in Western Uganda.
In July, 2013, ACEMP opened up its Regional office in Kenya's Capital of Nairobi in part fulfilment of our East African dimension and Outlook . We are currently sharing our Ugandan rich experiences with the newly elected government of Kenya's policy makers, legislators, the Media, researchers and in advanced stages of mobilising Local Communites in the Oil-rich Turkana region and other resource communites around the Lamu area to become active participants in the on-going Policy and regulatory framework dialogue in Kenya.
We are also currently working with technocrats in South Sudan's resource dependent economy and mining industry in enabling the country to streamline its mining industry as an alternative source of revenue for the young nation. The country is in advanced stages of setting up its Cadestral system to facilitate efficient monitoring and management of mining activities in the country, promote and attract foreign direct investment in the massively rich and untouched mining sector.
