AFRICA CENTRE FOR ENERGY & MINERAL POLICY

International Oil and Gas Management Training Program. (May- July, 2014)

The emergency of a strong and vibrant extractive industries in Uganda and the East African Community has created alot of public interest and excitement about the Oil and Gas industry. With the sector expected to play a major role in shaping the future of the region's economy, building of local content and skills to manage the resource sector is critical to the development and sustainability of the industry. In the past 7 years, Billions of Ugandan shillings have been spent by the Ugandan government and international oil and gas companies (IOCS) to build human resources for the oil and gas industry. Most of these expenses on education will be recovered by the companies as cost oil. Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy in partnership with Makerere Uinversity Business School (MUBS) have embarked on a strategy to address the skills gaps in the extractive industries through tailor made capacity building oil, gas and mining courses. These short courses will in the long term be transformed into Diploma, Bachelors and Masters courses in resource management.
